To Walk The Shores of Years Gone By (Hand in Hand)

Today is the day you will remember the rest of your life,

God has brought you together to join as husband and wife,

It is a blessing for man and woman that they may join as one,

Matrimony is such a blessed bond of His will being done,

I pray for you both, I truly do and I will during formative time,

Discovery of shared hearts meld to be one such as in this rhyme,

Obstacles will rise to be overcome and with each your love will grow,

An insurmountable object will fall like a dam releasing love to flow,

The will to conquer such may come from just a touch of the hand,

From but a whisper to our Lord in desperation He will understand,

Request guidance of heart and mind that you may receive wisdom,

I pray your love melds as one that you’re given a key to His Kingdom,

With but a soft touch assurances of love, support, and more are shown,

A reassuring smile can announce to others your love that it be known,

May you one day walk the shores of years gone by built upon falling sand,

During strife reach back to this day of joy and touch your spouse’s hand.

This poem is written in celebration of my friend Josh’s son’s wedding. Congratulations, Alex and Tori Phelps.

The Morning Rose

A morning flower came into bloom such a sight to see,

It is a beautiful creation and I know it’s meant for me,

As my vision tuned in from just awake to crisp and clear,

I could see it is a rose and I reached to hold it dear,

The essence of sweet amour filled the surround with scent,

To a simple man such as me it was a beautiful gift heaven sent,

It would be wrong to pluck this rose from its stem of life,

Instead I felt it would be best to ask her to be my wife,

This beautiful flower leaped from its environment into my waiting arms,

My heart so filled with love by now will protect it from all that harms,

Love at a glance for my desirous soul was fueled by His hand,

Dreams sent from heaven as well as signposts I didn’t understand,

Helped fuel my love and I realized sometimes we need to see clear,

He will guide the way and send us to the places needed if only we will hear,

I’ll hold my rose and nourish her for a lifetime if allowed to,

My grateful heart now rejoices to celebrate, I’m so in love with you.

Your Beauty in Moonlight

There is something living inside of you,

It’s something so beautiful and true,

I walked the shores so alone so very long ago,

Dreams from long ago are still dreams I cherish so,

Most have come true yet I hold them so dear,

We still have time to build on the dreams of yesteryear,

Yes we still have time to correct the flaws and mistakes,

With just a little effort we can build perfection, whatever it takes,

Our time has not come and gone, we can carry on into evermore,

What is in me has been placed at your steps as it was before,

Let me know what dwells inside and secrets never told,

I am empty of news, my angel, I have revealed all within my hold,

The fun of youthful love is still in my heart and inside of yours,

To dwell within forever and if allowed the passion it procures,

Remove the blinders of aged restrictions thinking we can not,

I have a pocket full of memories to double down what we have got,

Dance in my arms and allow the passion to grow to a boil,

Kiss my lips aggressively to awaken aged love, I promise it won’t spoil,

Slip away, let’s slip away into the forest and lay upon a blanket again,

It wasn’t the forest nor the blanket but the deep love felt within,

Let me set the flow my hazel eyed beauty and allow me to go slow,

As you catch your breath my senior patience allows me to let it show,

Let me show how much I love you and I will just hold you tight,

The pleasure of cuddling after love is something I cherish at night,

Your eyes staring at the stars fill my heart with refreshed passion inside,

I will love you forever, my naked angel, your beauty in moonlight is magnified,

The kisses of your seasoned lips brings more flavor to taste,

I love you, my wonderful beauty, there is no time to waste.

The end, for Patti.  I love you.

A Teen’s Promise Came True — To Love You Forever

From you comes a sign as has come a sign from you each time I’m alone,

It’s a sign of tranquility that overwhelms my world and my need to atone,

For my wrongs you have forgiven me and have asked for nothing in return,

Your wants and needs have been so simple of love I have had nothing to learn,

I must tell the world that they may realize the rhymes I’ve written do ring true,

My words heard by others as they listen to recitals of poetry written for you,

Years flow quickly through the hourglass of life creating memories in their wake,

The most precious of memories aged to become gold, yet impossible to take,

The day of future past has come upon you to find you alone in our empty home,

As you look across the room remember you’re beautiful and you are never alone,

A teen swore to love you eternally over fifty years ago this day and true he still does,

As you think of me my precious angel hold close to your heart everything I was,

I am the man that loved only you and only you knew me in the waves of true love,

Remember mornings sweet angel as you are the sunshine that came from above,

Each morning as I struggled to bend my knees your kindness removed my socks,

I was cute you know, and precious too, in kindness to me you once reset the clocks,

Words such as cute and precious couldn’t be scribed by me because I don’t think so,

But since you loved me as no other those little words of error I will have to let go,

Oh sweet Patti, never forget the touching of our lips as mine came to greet yours,

For nearly seventy five years I said whatever ails me that little angel holds the cures,

But most of all little girl, remember each night as I held you tight to never let you go,

Such a precious and wonderful thing, to be loved the same as the one you love so,

I will still hold you near but you will never know, yet take my word for what I now say,

Today is the parting day, a day of no return, so very soon they’ll come to take me away,

Remember just last night I said I’d never let you go and that I will always love you so,

I’m right here with you, I still hold your little hand and I’m with you where ever you go,

It was just a night or so, when I wouldn’t let you go, I wanted to dance with you real slow,

And you whispered in my ear so soft, “Don’t leave love on the dance floor” “you know”

Yes I do know my hazel eyed angel, oh how I now know, but to hold you tight once more,

Here I am away from you yet I see you oh so very clear yet it’s not like it was before,

I’ve written so many pretty words for you, along with more love words than most know,

Words of love and beauty written just for you, you are for the most beautiful angel I know,

Please remember my eyes of dark brown and that I mostly wore a smile instead of a frown,

Before the draft letter came my hair was black, though it’s now white it was never brown,

I never grew tired of holding you, did I my little angel, please continue to tell about our love,

I will love you forever and now,è how appropriate it is, to love an angel from heaven above.

The end, I love you Patti

Baby, time is precious and each moment is a treasure.  Not a second should go by with despair or concern in our hearts.  I have no doubt you’ve loved me forever and I’ve loved you a bit longer.  No matter how you look at it it is a long time, okay?  Kiss my heart and my soul with your eyes long before our lips meet, then it will be a greeting from the Angels, a gift from God.

You are no doubt my gift from God, His Hand touched your eyes and your heart.  He placed within you the perfect match for my heart and soul, I give thanks to God, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit each day for you being in my life, you are the blessing of a lifetime and in my lifetime my wife.  I am truly blessed.  I love you my angel. I will love you eternally.  And no I don’t feel like I’m dying or anything is wrong.  Just realizing how much I love you and how precious time is.  I love you.

As The Universe Expands

You are beautiful through and through,

I do see the many things for me you do,

In the speed of a second what is is gone,

I pray no second is absent you along,

Each pulse of my heart brings amour,

Even more love than a second before,

An empty tick in time is no part of my rhyme,

Unless you are within each ‘n’ every tick of time,

As the universe expands with each turn,

Such expands my love no need to earn,

So enormous in size is the vastness of space,

Yet it becomes full when I see your angelic face,

Only you, only you, it must be said time and time again,

For without your tender hand near, my day can’t begin.

The end, I love you baby girl.

Old “Because” (The Sculpted Angel)

In the darkness of night a man’s mind fell into the waste of what was,

The deniable became undeniable in his mind as he asked it what she does,

It’s alright my love, she said, I know you’ve heard it all before but now no more,

It’s all right my love is all he heard, his poor heart fell apart the day before,

In a desperate mind there’s something living deep inside that brings a little hope,

You and me oh Lord, oh help me please my dear Lord, I won’t use that old rope,

Everything she meant to me became a misstep into my lost hopes of a love eternity,

I never stood a chance he thought as he prayed and got down on one knee,

The sculpted angel stool taller than life reaching out to the heavens above,

Sculpted marble to reach heaven above as a representation of a senior girl he loves,

The rope within the Angel’s grasp seems so out of place for an angel to hold,

As he chipped away year after year he grew weary year by year until very old,

His heart loved the image he had traced year after year and day after lonely day,

Told to stay away so he did as told yet he knew her image after tracing it every way,

The feces-stained photos showed the wear across her long dark beautiful hair,

He had worn her image within while detained and she appeared as real over there,

Each night he walked the streets asking everyone and anyone if they had seen her,

The vision of a marksman had faded in a lifetime to become nothing but a blur,

Yet the love of a lifetime transferred to his fingertips to sculpt the last love he’d held,

An angel sculpted with wings so spread that he could stand inside to feel them meld,

Have you seen her? The poor soul would ask and those that knew said yes,

They would tell the beaten warrior that she was beautiful and they could only guess,

Maybe she is in Oklahoma with her parents getting the farm ready, my old friend,

That seems to satisfy his broken soul as he walked on home singing “against the wind,”

A few that asked why he never saw her when he came home just heard “because,”

They dig a little deeper and ask their old friend to hear “it musta been my flaws,”

He never made it home that night as a rejected brother walked through town that night,

The nickname “because” stuck to him but most knew he had just lost his fight,

Unknown to him the angel in heart had searched him out but he wasn’t there,

For years the beautiful angel searched for him as she left home to search everywhere,

Each place he had been she would be but each time it seemed a little too late,

The things she wanted to hide never needed to be hidden because of changed fate,

He started his sculpture with hope singing, “someday lady you’ll accompany me,”

Those that didn’t know him thought he sang to sing because he was half crazy,

The dreams of a lost warrior still filled his soul as he bought stone to sculpt alone,

Soon the marble was massive and through the night he’d sing Bob Seger all alone,

“Against the wind, I remember what she said to me as she held me oh so tight,”

“Against the wind we were running against the wind,” he sang into each lonely night,

The strangers once his friends were no longer that as they threw stones as once before,

He fell apart when no one greeted him upon discharge, he just couldn’t take anymore,

He sang”I remember when she said to me and swore it never would end, I wish I didn’t know”,

A line in the song he never finished and everyone wondered what is was from long ago,

A dark night when reveal of the statue came to be someone wondered where’s old “because,”

Found touching her face as he had finished the most beautiful angel titled “My Angel that Was,”

The smile upon his face said he had found the angel of his broken heart,

He touched her face as he had in dreams while the enemy tried to pull him apart,

The shackles upon his ankles were never understood but an entering older woman knew,

She cried out, “oh, Pat, it’s so beautiful, I’m here, I’m so sorry, I’m still in love with you,”

Down on Main Street softly played from somewhere as she passed away that night,

A legend of love came to be as a story of love was named, “when lovers finally unite,”

At the end of Main and Roosevelt, an old building fell down and the statue was placed,

So beautiful the statue is with his shackles placed for all to remember the hell he faced.

The end, by Pat for you Patti.

I’m glad you found me, I love you.

I realize that without you I am nothing.
