Today I had an emotional response that amazed my soul,<\/span><\/p>\n

It was so unexpected as I made headway on my workday goal,<\/span><\/p>\n

The emails come in from businesses and those selling wares,<\/span><\/p>\n

This particular email had but a word for anyone that cares,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Contained in all the emails I saw “daddy” in one just for me,<\/span><\/p>\n

“Daddy” followed by my email address set my worries free,<\/span><\/p>\n

The title Daddy means more than president or CEO ever could,<\/span><\/p>\n

As I was suddenly overwhelmed with memories there she stood,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I could see the sweet little girl riding home with me long ago,<\/span><\/p>\n

I regret that I was so engrossed in my work that I traveled so,<\/span><\/p>\n

How much better could my relationship be had I been home,<\/span><\/p>\n

I pray she and my son know working hard was all I had known,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Reality struck home when I was told I was gravely ill to soon die,<\/span><\/p>\n

It wasn’t for myself that I cried, it was lost time with them I’d cry,<\/span><\/p>\n

And for her, my wonderful wife, I regretted every moment away,<\/span><\/p>\n

As I reviewed my life with her in my arms I started to again pray,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My life has been nothing but blessing no matter how much I have pain,<\/span><\/p>\n

Abused at war beyond recognition, I left my body but prayed to remain,<\/span><\/p>\n

To be with Patti I would endure anything and God gave a near cure,<\/span><\/p>\n

Not a cure but an existence in pain is worth every minute I assure,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To be blessed with children that for some reason love me and care,<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps it’s their mother’s influence that placed the love for me there,<\/span><\/p>\n

We have moved to follow my career so many times I can’t track it all,<\/span><\/p>\n

They never complained to me as I’ve wondered did Patti take the fall,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The trips through the mountains of Colorado meant so much to me,<\/span><\/p>\n

Playing volleyball in the hot tub with just our little fun loving family,<\/span><\/p>\n

They brought so much joy to my heart as I started to realize I was ill,<\/span><\/p>\n

Soon the many doctors trips brought confusion and pill after pill,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Heart attacks, gall bladder surgery, encephalitis, stomach surgery,<\/span><\/p>\n

The list goes on, papillotomies, and liver embolizations times three,<\/span><\/p>\n

Never once did I despair or feel the end was near as I’ve done too much,<\/span><\/p>\n

I survived cruelties of war from but a photo and memories of her touch,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At my side they were as bankruptcy came because I couldn’t work,<\/span><\/p>\n

My poor little angel had to take anything even working as a clerk,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet we rebuilt as a family and after college our children came home,<\/span><\/p>\n

This time I would shower them with love and my how time has flown,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now my son and I are approaching twenty years working together,<\/span><\/p>\n

I have realized so much about him, his intelligence and how clever,<\/span><\/p>\n

And beautiful Susan, bless her little Crohn’s riddled body I so love,<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh how many times I have prayed for help for her to our Lord above,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yet her attitude is positive and through it all she gave birth twice,<\/span><\/p>\n

My son and his wife have given me two, all of them treat me so nice,<\/span><\/p>\n

Both have married well in that their spouses are endeared to them,<\/span><\/p>\n

They are loved in return and none have done anything on a whim,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“Daddy,” the word seemed impossible as I look back on my life,<\/span><\/p>\n

But I should realize the impossible happens when I look at my wife,<\/span><\/p>\n

I am loved more than I deserve by everyone that’s in my surround,<\/span><\/p>\n

I am in heaven, my life prediction should have been “heaven bound.”<\/span><\/p>\n
