Within my mind your date of birth had a place to stay,<\/p>\n

A dream came to me just after I had turned sixteen,<\/p>\n
You will meet a beautiful angel make her your queen,<\/p>\n
I carried that dream within my soul until you were there,<\/p>\n
Was it a dream or was I seeing the angel with long hair,<\/p>\n

Unknown to all but I said a prayer upon leaving you,<\/p>\n
I asked for guidance in the future and all I would do,<\/p>\n
My life began that day, not any other time did it begin,<\/p>\n
I became a better man and left the condition I was in,<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The draft took me away to war as I knew it would soon,<\/p>\n
I remember kissing goodbye beneath the Texas moon,<\/p>\n
I loved you but it wasn\u2019t the right words for me to say,<\/p>\n
With the war over there I was afraid I was going to stay,<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
By the grace of God I came home but unknown to you,<\/p>\n
Letters I wrote were hidden away as mother\u2019s might do,<\/p>\n
Two long years alone I had a dream with a broken heart,<\/p>\n
Somehow you found me to say I don\u2019t want us to part,<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I have your day of birth memorized since we first met,<\/p>\n
In fifty five years I have not forgotten your birthday yet,<\/p>\n
I remember few days of importance but that day I know,<\/p>\n
For without your birthday I would have no place to go.<\/p>\n
