I had a pain an awful pain that pierced my heart through,<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a dreadful time long ago when I felt I had lost you,<\/span><\/p>\n

Heartbreak tears flowed from a broken love within my soul,<\/span><\/p>\n

Sensations of electricity rushed away in heartbreaks role,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Though I had been struggling inside while the war raged on,<\/span><\/p>\n

Preparation for a loss unknown is impossible until it is gone,<\/span><\/p>\n

Wonderfully I still feel your lips and still I taste your tears salt,<\/span><\/p>\n

The pain I feel has convinced the being within that I\u2019m at fault,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As I write of heartbreak and the wonders of love in a rhyme,<\/span><\/p>\n

I jump from current to past times as the pain weaves time,<\/span><\/p>\n

So deep it felt physical truth be told I know it\u2019s mostly mind, <\/span><\/p>\n

Wish I were on the outside looking in perhaps answers I\u2019d find,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

While in war\u2019s fury your believed love carried this man through,<\/span><\/p>\n

To depart that place on wings not mine is a blessing that I flew,<\/span><\/p>\n

A simple man in love finds separation too difficult to grasp,<\/span><\/p>\n

Two months in desperation created a letter as my final gasp,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Still I can touch your hair with tender strokes of my hand,<\/span><\/p>\n

Stains of draining ink appear when pens make a last stand,<\/span><\/p>\n

Each breath I take while in this writers realm dusted in pain,<\/span><\/p>\n

Has the essence of your exhausted breath even in the rain,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Diamonds purchased create love\u2019s rush to flow through in full,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet they cut flesh with a hardness that\u2019s unknown to any tool,<\/span><\/p>\n

As love grows it seems impossible for it to destroy completely,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet the realization that it\u2019s gone tears through flesh so slowly,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hope is more than a descriptive word its how love can remain,<\/span><\/p>\n

Hope resurrected my love\u2019s continuance although still in pain,<\/span><\/p>\n

My letter begs friendship but unknown to you I\u2019ll love from afar,<\/span><\/p>\n

At night in my world of darkness you\u2019ll be my lone shining star,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There\u2019s an emptiness that seems to roar with sound unheard,<\/span><\/p>\n

Every time I lay my head down to sleep you are my final word,<\/span><\/p>\n

During the day thoughts of you insert themselves to be known,<\/span><\/p>\n

Unintentional memories is an odd description but it\u2019s my own,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How best describes my heart forcing my mind to think of you,<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter the topic or purpose my mind strays to become blue,<\/span><\/p>\n

Intensity of heartbreak must be equivalent to passions extremes,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet a million hearts or more couldn\u2019t absorb the intensity it seems,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Oh pretty Patti I should have known narcotics of love is strong,<\/span><\/p>\n

So deeply in love with such a beauty is a place I didn\u2019t belong,<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the way you would look at me or how you looked walking,<\/span><\/p>\n

I absorbed everything you said as I loved how you look talking,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Every nuance of you effected my being as you filled my soul,<\/span><\/p>\n

If someday you should read this rhyme of forced warriors role,<\/span><\/p>\n

The power of love\u2019s vivacity has left me eternally enamored,<\/span><\/p>\n

Every thought every moment even air demands I\u2019m armored,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I have known the extremes of life too soon for a young man,<\/span><\/p>\n

Every full moon of love I\u2019ve given you along with all that I am,<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of Earth I\u2019ve dwelled as heartache created despair,<\/span><\/p>\n

A heart that use to race with love\u2019s angst is now beyond repair,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My hands shake with too much alcohols poisonous inflection,<\/span><\/p>\n

As my heart struggles to beat from love\u2019s opposite affliction,<\/span><\/p>\n

Voices carry into my room as I can hear whispers unheard before,<\/span><\/p>\n

Spoken of me in wonder asking why I\u2019m not the same anymore,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A month has passed since I typed my last letter begging to you,<\/span><\/p>\n

I asked forgiveness for my love stricken words and what can I do,<\/span><\/p>\n

Two corners of the room are filled with wads of paper and words,<\/span><\/p>\n

The words are written on the waste paper plus there\u2019s potsherds,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The risks I take now are real because of what soldiers have to do,<\/span><\/p>\n

Though I\u2019m a sailor I\u2019ll never know the seas or the oceans blue,<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve trained to hide and go where others have failed or can\u2019t go,<\/span><\/p>\n

Once I was danger now I\u2019m in danger as the un-alert grow slow,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And yet my eyes only see beautiful you no matter when or where,<\/span><\/p>\n

Love hasn\u2019t grown cold nor have I grown old it\u2019s just the despair,<\/span><\/p>\n

Returned my heart to her in sweet surrender as with her I belong,<\/span><\/p>\n

Though she may not love me I feel better loving her even if wrong,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Those feelings back then placed me in dangers way every day, <\/span><\/p>\n

The inability to find her the next time home made it hard to stay,<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayers mixed with feelings of defeat to create confusion of mind,<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon my return to my next mission I may as well have been blind,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My love for you is more intense today than days of my past,<\/span><\/p>\n

When you were fourteen I told you that my love would last,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet I still feel that pain at times for reasons I\u2019ll never understand,<\/span><\/p>\n

When you ask why I cry, just give me a kiss and hold my hand. <\/span><\/p>\n
